Refund Policy

Updated in September 2024

Students who pay the Kingsway Academy tuition deposit agree to Kingsway Academy’s refund policy as outlined below:

A.  APPLICATION FEE RECEIVED BY Kingsway Academy

non-refundable Application Fee of $300 CAD will apply to all enrolment applications made to Kingsway Academy.

B.  TUITION DEPOSIT AND FEES FOR Kingsway Academy

I. All Refund requests must be made in writing to the Finance Department by the Kingsway Academy student.

II. Kingsway Academy will refund tuition fees deposited by a Kingsway Academy Student who:

  • fails to obtain a Student Visa from the Canadian Embassy before traveling to Canada;
  • can provide documentation proving the rejection of their visa application.

Note: refund may take up to 4 weeks to process. Visa denial refunds are subject to a minimum $300 CAD administrative fee. A wire transfer service charge of $40 will be applied against this type of refund.

III. Any Kingsway Academy student who is successful in gaining a visa to study in Canada and subsequently begins their studies at Kingsway Academy may qualify for a refund of unused tuition when student finishes study and get OSSD at Kingsway.

IV. Student is denied to enroll at Kingsway, or terminated by Kingsway will eligible to apply for refund unused tuition deposit. Tuition Fee used for the term being terminated is not refundable.

C.  Residence Fees:

I. Once the Kingsway Academy student has successfully applied for residence, Residence Registration Fee, Residence Rent Fee, Meal Plan and Facility Fee are non-refundable.

II. Student is denied to enroll at Kingsway, or terminated by Kingsway Academy will eligible to apply for refund for unused Residence & Meal Plan deposit. Residence & Meal Plan fee used for the term when termination happened is not refundable.

D.  School Fee Deposits:

I. All requests for School Fee Deposits must be made in writing to the Student Services Department by the student using the Accommodation Termination Notice form.

II. KINGSWAY will refund the balance of any money held on deposit as Accommodation Security once that student graduates from KINGSWAY and provides proof that their account with their accommodation provider is in good standing.

III. Requests will take 20 business days to process. ** Refund requests are not processed during Intake Weeks. For an Intake Week schedule, please visit the Schedule page at www.iceapkingsway.ca.

  • Terms: Any non-standard term needs to be approved by school case by case if there is bed available.
  • Renew: Student may renew by 42 weeks, or till the end of study at Kingsway Academy, which one is shorter.
  • If student tenant requests room upgrading or downgrading during the billing cycle, the room charge will be prorated based by room type and length of stay; If it is not in a billing cycle, it will be calculated according to the extra day charge fee which is $35/day.
  • Extra stay and extra meal fees will apply on the condition that students move in early before the first day or move out late after the last day of each term.
  • August 26 – September 2, 2024 and January 2 – January 5, 2025 are Orientation week to new registered student. It is mandatory and the accommodation fee is included in the package. December 23, 2024 – January 5, 2025 is winter break. School doesn’t provide meal plan during winter break.

E.  ANNUAL FEE AND PARTIAL FEE

When the students are entering the 2nd year of study at Kingsway Academy, they are responsible for repaying the following fees:

I. Student Service fee $800

II. Activities Fee $1,000

III. Custodian Fee $1,000

IV. Medical insurance deposit $650

Partial Fees are only for students who enter the 2nd year but have less than 6 months of stay and are normally set at 50% of the full annual fee, it applies to the Student service & Activities fee and Custodian fee.

Medical insurance fees would be prorated on a term basis (2 months)

F.  RESPONSIBILITY FOR PAYMENT OF FEES:

All parents/guardians are responsible to pay Kingsway Academy the charges for the full academic year. Payments can be made by wire transfer, email transfer, or credit card. Please note that credit card charges for any payments incur a 3% service fee. In the event of default in the payment of any installment provided for in this contract, a student may not be allowed to continue classes and parents/guardians will be responsible for all legal fees and reasonable costs of collection for any outstanding amounts due under this contract.

Any student whose account has not been paid promptly or is in arrears may not:

  • be permitted to attend school
  • be permitted to receive records/transcripts
  • be permitted to stay at the residence buildings and have a meal plan (for residence students)

G. Late Payments and NCF Fees:

All late payments are subject to 1% interest per month (12% per annum). There is a $60 fee applied to any delinquent/declined credit card payments.
